Sales Numbers Up For RV And Fifth Wheel Camper Sales
Sales numbers are increasing for RVs and fifth wheel campers. RV Dealers are continuing to experience a rise in sales across the nation during 2010. Last year appears to have been the lowest point of the recession, coming as a long, slow crash after a peak year in 2005.
Dr. Richard Curtain, whose expertise is in forecasting trends, believes there will be an increase of 39% in RV sales above 2009′s numbers. This would account for 249,700 shipments being sold. This analysis was published by the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association. Dealers are responding to steady sales numbers by increasing inventory for the coming summer season.
In the past, when recessions were over, the economy tended to bounce back quickly. However, this may not be the case this time, warns Curtain. He believes there will be a series of gains and setbacks before the economy fully recovers. The people who are starting to buy again are doing so carefully, looking at the long-term picture by buying more fuel-efficient models and lighter weight travel trailers and campers. Sales in this market have been increasing rapidly.
RVs and fifth wheel campers are also holding their ground as sales on the more expensive items are beginning to grow again. The new Ambassadors of Affordability created by GoRving for their advertisements are helping those who might be interested in purchasing an RV understand that RV vacations are affordable and create lasting family bonds. These cute critters were received favorably by audiences and have been featured in commercials during the Olympics and NASCAR.
The highest end RVs can cost well upwards of $100,000 for a used vehicle with some of the most extravagant models topping $2 million. Travel trailers, the least expensive models sell for less than $20,000. There are a wide variety of options that make RVs affordable for most income levels. Fifth wheel prices sit in between travel trailers and Class A RVs. Fifth wheel campers offer the convenience of being able to leave the fifth wheel in the campground while trucking around on excursions.
There are a variety of ways to travel – air, car, train, but few allow for the comforts of home like RVing does. A favorite pillow, or certain foods and drinks can be stocked up without worrying about airport security confiscating them. Feel free to bring the full size bottle of shampoo, or toothpaste to last the entire trip. No more paying $20.00 for a bottle of suntan lotion at an exclusive resort. In an RV, you can stop at a grocery store and buy supplies for a reasonable price.
Many RV buyers were taken on trips with their family when they were kids. Those first experiences instilled a love for adventure and the outdoors. Today, they are look to recreate those experiences with their own families. There is a thrill in stepping into your brand new RV or fifth wheel for the first time.
Traveling by RV or fifth wheel camper is a rite of passage for many Americans, creating a sense of freedom. As airplanes charge for every little amenity from baggage to food, RVs can be stocked at home and can take you anywhere, cheaper.
