How WEB 2.0 Can Drive Targetted Internet Traffic
Back in the early days of the web, posting your own information or web pages was a process only the very brave or well informed would even attempt.
Even the simple task of adding a few lines of text to a web page was something best left to those with a degree in the subject. Web design, as an art or science was in it’s infancy, and it showed!
Badly formatted and difficult to read web pages were the norm. Setting up a page could take many hours. Even uploading to your server via a telephone line could take several hours for even a modest site.
Lost connections, error messages and virus infestations were everywhere.
I’m not talking fifty years ago either, just ten or twelve.
In no time at all, everything has changed. WYSIWYG (“what you see is what you get”) internet design is now very advanced. WEB 2.0 sites such as Youtube and Twitter allow user to add to the web in no time at all. Pleasing results are possible with a minimum of effort.
Myspace, Twitter and Youtube lead a huge number of sites who depend on input from the communities they represent. Articles, videos, pictures from users are just welcome, they are essential.
With any innovation on a scale this enormous comes the possibility to leverage it for profit. These sites attract the most enormous numbers of visitors. The potential to marketing either products or ideas on these sites is clear to all.
If you want to join in and have your say, it’s vital that you first join up as completely as possible. Fill in the user profiles, add your photo where possible.
Next, you need to make friends with people with a similar interest to yourself. Join existing groups within your chosen niche, if none exist form your own.
The final step is to be an asset. Provide answers and information. Be seen as an expert in your field. It might just be possible to add a link back to your own site.
It is not that hard to be an asset, and that is the method I would highly recommend. Being helpful and transparent as an active member in your niche is the best way to proceed.
The internet is an open and (generally) friendly space. WEB 2.0 has changed the playing field to a huge extent. Getting your message across while learning from others has never been easier for those prepared to make a little effort.
With the huge expansion of WEB 2.0 media sites, arises new and exciting ways of driving web traffic to your own web holdings.
